Flurry of a Weekend

We had another busy weekend around the Snowflake house.

After the frustrating day on Friday, we at least got to relax at home that evening. Mr. S brought home dinner (love that I didn’t have to cook) and we spent the evening relaxing and watching Up in the Air (very good movie) and the kids hung out and watched Star Wars downstairs.
Saturday started off REALLY early. The boys all got up and left for Jr.Mr.S’s District Wrestling Tournament (decides if you get to go to state or not). I let the girls sleep in and then we got ready to go to Jr.Ms.S’s basketball practice. After her practice we drove to Harlan to go and support Jr.Mr.S. I got the kids all riled up to cheer for him by telling them if they cheered really hard, maybe he’d go to state and we’d get to go to Des Moines and stay in a hotel and swim in the indoor pool. That got them going! It was a long 4.5 hours. It was crowded and warm in the gym. We could hardly get out of our seats for the bathroom it was so bad (which is a big deal with 4 kids in the stands).

(See how socked in we were - Jr.Ms.S was busy all day on her DS - her head is down in the back)
Jr.Mr.S did really well, but he lost during an overtime sudden death for 2nd place and then lost the next one (I don’t know if it was the previous loss or the guy was that much tougher), so he had a pretty emotional day, but 2 wins and 2 loses isn’t bad and he ended up with 5th place (only the 1st-4th place guys get to go to state). I guess I’m happy that we’re finally done with wrestling this year (it’s been a long season and we’ve gone to more tournaments than previous years), but I wish for Jr.Mr.S’s sake that it would have ended a little nicer for him.

After the tournament, we all drove home and were able to rest for a little bit. Then Mr. S decided he wanted to go out to dinner (score another one for me – no cooking!). We took the kids to Red Lobster and oh, my gosh! They ate SO MUCH food! We ordered 2.5 pounds of crab for three of them to eat along with a side and they just ate through that (one top of the two appetizers and eating some of my salad). Jr.Mr.S and Jr.Ms.S even started in on mine and Mr.S’s food – how are we ever going to feed them in a few years?! Even with the feeding frenzy going on at our table, we got compliments from several people about how good are kids were in the restaurant – it’s nice to hear since we deal with them in every state of their behavior.

Sunday was busy too. We got an early start with house cleaning and the kids pitched in, so we were able to finish pretty fast. Jr.Mr.S and Jr.Ms.S both have their birthdays this week, so since we won’t see Jr.Mr.S for his birthday, we decided to let him open presents and Jr.Ms.S opened presents that had been sent already from my family.

We took Little Miss S to drill team practice at noon and then the rest of us heading over to Mr.S’s aunts house for lunch and to celebrate all of the March birthdays (besides the three of us, Mr.S’s grandma, uncle, cousin, and cousin-in-law all have birthdays – it’s like Christmas). We all had a really good time and LMS was able to get in on the cake and ice cream too, so she was happy (I picked her up two hours after we dropped her off).

After all our tummies were nice and full and the sugar hadn’t kicked in yet, we headed home and had another relaxing evening (I even got away with not cooking again!)

How did you spend your weekend?
