…um if you don’t you’ve been living under a rock…
(remember, the President had to preempt his State of the Union address because of this event?)
It’s the season premiere of the final season of Lost….
I’m super excited. As much of a roller coaster as Lost has been, I’ve been there from the first “Where are we?” and I can’t wait to see how the story ends.
PREVIOUSLY, ON ‘LOST’
If the fifth season’s finale, which aired in May, is any sign, there is still much story to come to terms with. When we last saw our heroes (and villains), a plethora of plot was unfolding in 1977 and present day. A review:
• A Colossus of Rhodes-sized landmark is indeed Taweret, the Egyptian goddess of protection, birth and fertility, further marrying the ancient culture with the island.
• Jacob, the long-referenced but only just introduced keeper of the island, has met some of the castaways in their past including Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Locke, Sun and Jin, Jack, Ilyana and Hurley, deliberately touching each person, perhaps marking them as one of his chosen people.
• Speaking of Jacob, it seems he has his own merry band of supporters on the recently crashed Ajira 316 flight — led by Ilyana — who like to ask, “What lies in the shadow of the statue?” Answer: “That which will save all of us.”
• Ben’s manipulated by Locke into killing Jacob upon meeting the island caretaker for the first time. Jacob’s last words: “They’re coming.” Oh, and Locke — it turns out — is actually dead, and whoever crash survivors and Others have been following around the island isn’t their fearless leader.
• In 1977, Jack and Co. storm the Swan site, and Juliet ends up at the bottom of a drill shaft and detonates a hydrogen bomb, presumably killing everyone within the blast radius.
What happens next is any fan’s guess. And that’s the great thing about “Lost.” Anything can happen.
