2012 State Wrestling

This was the first year we've gone to State wrestling. It was quite a learning experience for us, but now that we have one year under our belt, we'll be a lot more prepared for the coming years (I'm sure we'll be there MANY more times if Mr S has his way).

We drove out to Des Moines on Friday afternoon, while Mr S and JrMrS went with a group of people to the weigh-ins, I took the kids to the pool (LMS didn't go with us this year - she stayed with a friend and played her basketball game).

After swimming, we ate dinner at the hotel restaurant with Mr S's grandparents and thenwent swimming again. (everytime JrMrS has tried to go before, I always tried to get the other kids into it by promising them a hotel with a pool - they're easy)

Silly TS2

The Capitol of Iowa. We actually drove all around it the next night - the kids really enjoyed that.

The pool was NUTS this night - and I can only IMAGINE the petrie dish of germs that were in it - gross :-0

We started Saturday SUPER early. One lesson we learned though it that yo HAVE to get there early to make sure you have seats. We had to beg and barter for ours. Other than that, the morning was fine.

The kids were really trying to be supportive! They were screaming their hearts out for him when he wrestled.

Unfourtunately JrMrS was two-and-out, but it was a really fun experience for him and us. We had a quick lunch at the area and then JrMsS and I went back to the hotel. When MrS and the boys were tired of watching, they came back and we went swimming, then napped and then more swimming - it was fun to hang out with all of the other families and hang around the pool. We ate out and then I crashed at 8 pm that night (it had been a REALLY long week). We slept in a little the next morning and then headed home to rest more.

We were ALL tired LMS passed out on her bedroom floor in the middle of putting away her laundry :)

The twins also went to a state tournament the following weekend with Mr S.  The girls and I stayed home since LMS had a game and I didn't want the girls to miss school. The twins did really well and Brady even placed in his really large bracket.

He's 7th!

The team as a whole got 6th place.

Its been a really long season, but the boys ended really great.
